What is our mission?
We follow FIRST's mission to "inspire young people to be science and technology leaders, by engaging them in exciting mentor-based programs that build science, engineering and technology skills, that inspire innovation, and that foster well-rounded life capabilities including self-confidence, communication, and leadership," but beyond that, we make it our goal to see that every single team member has a say, that every team member has a chance to be directly involved, and that we can unite and build a robot that each and every one of us is proud of.
So, do we do anything besides building a fancy robot?
Besides building a robot that we take pride in each year, we learn new skills that can be useful for the rest of our lives. We learn skills required to use the robot, such as design and CAD, machining, electronics, and programming; but we also learn important life-skills such as teamwork, time-management, task-distribution, and public relations. We also demonstrate determination, sportsmanship, and the drive to keep trying our hardest, even in stressful situations.
Where are we located?
We meet at the Macomb Mathematics, Science, and Technology Center based in Butcher Community Center in Warren, Michigan. Many of our team members are students at this school that specializes in teaching students STEM subjects.
